Agriculture is the largest sector of the Nigerian economy with GDP contribution of about 42%. Research shows that Nigeria has over 80 million hectares of arable land. This accounts for about 23% of arable land across all of West Africa. Prospects for the agricultural sector is very bright, owning to the growing demand for food driven by a large population of over 182 million people and growing incomes as well as higher prices due to demand in the international market. The Agribusiness sector in Nigeria is potentially a $ trillion dollar income generating sector, however, there is a need to share knowledge and opportunity.
Against this backdrop, Welcome2Africa International in partnership with African Development Bank, AFEX Commodities Exchange Limited and Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission to put forward its Agrique Africa Investment Mission (AAIM2017) in Nigeria, with the core goal of catalyzing finance and investments into Nigeria’s Agribusiness sector.
AAIM2017 is composed of an investment forum open to 150 delegates, particularly Investors, Fund Managers, Financiers, Foundations, Aid Agencies, Financial Advisors, Agricultural Investment Advisors and a site visit which is open to just 8 participants who would be opportune to visit 4 Agribusiness Investment Opportunities.
In line with our preceding programs held in Ghana and in London, which sought to create a professional platform to guide investors on the intricacies of investing in Africa’s agribusiness sector and simultaneously promote viable investment opportunity.
