Beginning in July 2022, the Grand Africa Initiative (GAIN) and the Development Bank of Nigeria Plc (DBN) will work together to train 200 young Nigerian women in entrepreneurship through the “GAIN Entrepreneurship Masterclass for Women (Nigeria)” program.
The goal of the course is to provide selected young women entrepreneurs from around the nation with the information and abilities they need to launch and grow their enterprises. The course will go over topics like ideation, legal assistance, branding, marketing, communication, accounting, modeling, staffing, structure, etc. that are crucial to the success of MSMEs.
The Managing Director of DBN, Dr. Tony Okpanachi, described the significance of the Women Entrepreneurship Masterclass as follows: “We are pleased about this program which speaks directly to our mandate of improving the ability of MSMEs. The GAIN effort must now prioritize reaching as many women as possible while advancing gender equality. We anticipate that this exercise will result in more empowered women providing potential for long-term social and economic development.
According to Ms. Chinwe Okoli, the executive director of GAIN, “It has become vital to explicitly help women to pursue business.” Through this training, they will be given the tools they need to construct profitable enterprises that will give them financial independence, produce jobs, and advance Nigeria’s economy.
This program is in line with one of the Grand Africa Initiative-focus GAIN’s areas, which is women empowerment, claims Ms. Okoli. She claimed that the program is intended for a select group of women from all over Nigeria who will gain from the expertise of a faculty of business experts. Women who have a business or business idea, are between the ages of 22 and 45, exhibit a clear interest in entrepreneurship, have access to the internet, an internet-enabled device, and power are eligible to participate in the program. The call for applications for the GAIN Entrepreneurship Masterclass for Women (Nigeria) is expected to go live on July 6, 2022. Training and mentoring sessions will be held virtually during the six-week program.
